If I use the ui from Debayan Sutradhar it displays fine on my phone when standing upright (taller than it is wide), but if I turn my phone on it's side (wider than it is tall) a good chunk of the UI is cut-off, which is a bummer cause I love what he did with the Medusa gauges.

That's actually an issue with that specific theme, not the Android app.
But we already fixed that scaling issue and it will be rolled out with the next version.
You can also fix it right now by yourself if you don't want to wait any longer. Just have a look at the latest post from GhosTz here.
So, great news: we just launched 1.0.0-beta2 which contains the fix for the UI scaling issue you had with the theme.
You just need to update the MoBro application on your PC.
